Useful photos
Take one wide photo showing the complete entrance, then clear photos of the motor or operator, control board, safety sensors and any label or fault display
Do not remove live electrical covers or enter a moving gate area to get a photo
- Complete gate and driveway
- Motor or operator
- Inside controls only if already safely accessible
- Model and serial labels
- Photocells, loops or access devices
- Visible damage or fault display
Describe the sequence
Explain what command is given, what the gate does next and where it stops. Mention whether the fault changes with rain, heat, traffic, certain remotes or a particular direction
A short safe video can be more useful than saying the gate simply does not work
Confirm the site conditions
Provide the suburb, contact person, access hours, parking, inductions, urgency and whether the entrance is stuck open, stuck closed or unsafe
For commercial sites, include equipment access, traffic restrictions and any requirement for an elevated work platform or escort
Automatic gates and doors can cause serious injury. Keep clear of moving equipment and live electrical parts. If operation is unpredictable or unsafe, isolate the system where practical and arrange professional assessment
